Toshiba has come up with two new versions of its 1.8-inch HDD line up, one with 8GB and one with 160GB of storage capacity. Especially designed for media players as well as ultra-mobile PCs, the hard drive is the first Toshiba product to run on the new CE-ATA (Consumer Electronics ATA) interface. The 160GB model — codenamed MK1626GCB, will have to battle with Samsung’s1.8-inch 160GB hard drive that has been announced recently. Toshiba claims that the power consumption of their 100GB drive is approximately 33%. This HDD comes with a pair of 80GB platters with just 0.3-inch thick, 52mbps transfer rate and 3,600 rpm speed as well as 15ms seek time. Read the rest

Sony rolls out a couple new versions of its VAIO TP1 media center PC, codenamed the VAIO TP1V and TP1DTV. The former come equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500, DVD burner, HDMI and WiFi connections. Sony offers more storage capacity than the previous model, 250GB hard drive.
