Toshiba has come up with two new versions of its 1.8-inch HDD line up, one with 8GB and one with 160GB of storage capacity. Especially designed for media players as well as ultra-mobile PCs, the hard drive is the first Toshiba product to run on the new CE-ATA (Consumer Electronics ATA) interface. The 160GB model — codenamed MK1626GCB, will have to battle with Samsung’s1.8-inch 160GB hard drive that has been announced recently. Toshiba claims that the power consumption of their 100GB drive is approximately 33%. This HDD comes with a pair of 80GB platters with just 0.3-inch thick, 52mbps transfer rate and 3,600 rpm speed as well as 15ms seek time.
Mean while, the MK8022GAA is a 80GB 3600rpm drive that supports 66mbps transfer rate and runs on the Parallel ATA interface. Availability and pricing is not known.

Toshiba drives aren’t to bad thought I usually like to stick and Western Digital hard drives. 180 Gigs too is a little small to be handling the workload I have. I do have one Toshiba 80 Gigabyte drive though in one of my enclosures and it works well for storing all the music and videos I download.
What brand do you guys go with for memory? I spend so much on my computers I kind of go generic with my memory and stick with Kingston but many people tell me to up the ante with my RAM. Any suggestions?
