Samsung BD-UP5000 Duo HD Player: the first Dual Format Blu-ray/HD DVD Player

During the IFA events, Samsung showcased its first ever dual format optical high-def player, dubbed as the ‘BD-UP5000 Duo HD Player’. This new player has the capability to play Blu-ray as good as HD DVD at 1080p (between 24 and 60 frame-per-second). Even though LG Electronic was the first with the BH100, but Samsung has got something more to offer, since it is capable of being used with both Hdi and BD Java. It adopts the Hollywood Quality Video system and supports Dolby Digital 7.1, Dolby True HD and Dolby Digital Plus as well. By adopting the Hollywood Quality Video system, this new player is able to delivers a cinematic experience.
Samsung’s BD-UP5000 Duo HD Player is expected to hit the UK market in Q4 2007. Other products in the race are 3rd-Gen of Blu-ray players, including the HT-BD2, the world’s first Blu-ray home cinema system, the entry-level BD-P1400 and the BD-P2400. All of them will be released in late October. There’s no information on UK price so far.
