Asus EEE PC 700 and 701 Laptops Now Available for PreOrder

Finally, the Asus EEE PC is now available for Pre-Order in US market at AllAsus site with delivery is expected in early October 2007 (this retailer claims to ship the notebooks in early October 2007). The specs of the low-cost ultra-portable laptop PCs are the same as expected as follow:
- 7-inch screen
- Intel mobile CPU and chipset
- 2 or 4GB of flash memory
- 256 or 512MB of RAM
- Built-in 0.3 Megapixel webcam
- 802.11b/g wireless, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet and 56K modem
- 4-cell battery (3 hours of battery life)
- Dimension: 22.5×16.5×2.1~3.5cm
- Weight: 0.9 Kg
There are three configurations of Asus Eee PC which are available for pre-orders. The first model is the $260 Eee PC 700 (black color, with 2GB of storage space, 256MB RAM), the second one is the $299 Eee PC 700 (black or white colors, with 2GB of storage space, 256MB RAM, Webcam and Case) and the last is the $399 Eee PC 701 (black or white colors, with 4Gb of storage space, 512MB of memory, Webcam and Case).

The site you link to is NOT Asus. It is simply an Asus reseller. Their demand for a $150 non-refundable deposit is pretty scary - I wouldn’t hand my money over to a little online computer retailer that I’ve never heard of for a product that has yet to see the light of day. Official price and specs from Asus have not yet been released.
