Alienware has just announced what they claimed the first ever laptops that come with 320GB hard drive disks. The 15.4-inch Area-51 m1550, 17-inch Area-51 m9750 as well as the 17-inch Aurora m9700. Toshiba's 1.8-inch Hard Drives

Toshiba has come up with two new versions of its 1.8-inch HDD line up, one with 8GB and one with 160GB of storage capacity. Especially designed for media players as well as ultra-mobile PCs, the hard drive is the first Toshiba product to run on the new CE-ATA (Consumer Electronics ATA) interface. The 160GB model — codenamed MK1626GCB, will have to battle with Samsung’s1.8-inch 160GB hard drive that has been announced recently. Toshiba claims that the power consumption of their 100GB drive is approximately 33%. Hitachi Announced Fastest Encrypted Laptop Drive Project »

Hitachi announced that they have started the fastest encrypted laptop drive project. They claimed that the travelstar 7K200 will become the fastest notebook hard drive with on-board automatic data encryption technology in the world.

The Travelstar 7K200 rotates at a desktop-level 7,200rpm. The 2.5in drive is available in capacities ranging from 120GB to 200GB. It connects across a 1.5Gbps or a 3Gbps SATA bus. Read the rest
