Coming with a 60-inch wide screen, the new TV provides 1920×1080 screen resolution with 10000:1 contrast ratio and 1000 cd/m2 brightness. Sharp expands its product portfolio with the new full-HD 1080p D64U series, line of Aquos LCD TVs which is around 20% lighter and 25% thinner when compared to the previous models. By adopting the company’s Advanced Super View (ASV) technology, the HDTVs offer a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, a 4ms response time, an impressive 176 degrees viewing angle. The upcoming Sony Bravia HDTVs that are expected to be launched later this year will feature Audio Description (AD) capability. The AD is actually an additional narrative soundtrack that is designed to give a better mental picture to the blind or partially sighted people, where gaps in dialog enables a voice to explain visual plot points, so they can get ‘a better feel for what is going on during the show’. NEC introduced its new 40-inch LCD4020 and 46-inch LCD4620 MultiSync 20 Series line of high end HDTVs with measure about 5 times thinner than normal TVs. The HDTVs feature CV12, a new pixel technology that uses chevron-shaped pixels rather than rectangles.
